At Newcastle Float Centre we are dedicated to providing our clients with the ultimate deep relaxation, stress and pain relief methods available using Floatation Therapy. Our float rooms located in Wallsend are equipped with the latest float tanks, including a private shower and for your convenience we supply towels, soap and shampoo.
Floatation Therapy is used for meditation, relaxation, stress reduction, pain relief, injury recovery, accelerated healing, performance enhancement, pregnancy relief and as a natural alternative to certain medicines.
Many people compare the experience of being in a floatation tank to how they would imagine it to be in outer space, a feeling of zero gravity, being completely separated from the outside world. It must be experienced to be fully appreciated.
Your mind will be free to drift into the deepest state of relaxation possible and your body will have the chance to restore its natural powers of self regulation and healing. You will leave your float session with a sense of clarity, focus and both physical and mental renewal.
One hour of floatation therapy rejuvenates the body to the equivalent of four hours solid sleep.
So if your feeling tired, stressed, overworked, sleep deprived, experiencing muscle / joint discomfort, need some time to unwind and relax or want to give that perfect gift, allow us to help you and experience for yourself how floatation therapy can give you instant relief beyond belief.
A flotation tank is a large fibreglass capsule, that contains 350 kgs of Epson salt and is filled with approximently 40 cms deep with water that is heated to 34.5 degrees to allow for effortless floating in water that your body blends into
You don't have to close the lid if you are claustrophobic or worried for any reason. If you leave the lid open, you may find that the room is not completely dark but if your eyes are shut that's not a problem! You may feel cooler with the door open.
Many people who are worried that they will feel claustrophobic find that once they are in the tank and see how much space there is and how easy the door is to open/close, they are not worried at all.
No, you do not need to wear bathers as you will be floating in complete privacy, however if you think you will feel more comfortable by all means bring them with you. We don't recommend wearing bathers or underwear as these can be uncomfortable or cause a distraction to you whilst in the tank.
You only need to bring yourself and a change of clothes if you wish to. You may need a hair brush and personal toiletries eg deodorant , make up , perfume/aftershave etc.
No, the solution is thoroughly filtered between each client for at least 15-20 minutes and is filtered every 3 hours around the clock for 15 minutes.
Due to the fact that we use 350kgs of Epson salts in our tanks it can take the best part of 36 hours for the salt to completely dissolve and reach the correct temperature for optimal floating.
Anyone suffering from the following is advised not to float for their own safety as well as the safety of all clients:
- Extreme low blood pressure
- Contagious disease or Infectious skin conditions, including infected wounds / skin opening
- Diarrhoea or Gastroenteritis (Anyone with these sorts of symptoms should not float whilst symptoms persist & for up to 14 days after).
- Large open wounds
Anyone with the following conditions is advised to check with their health practitioner prior to floating:
- Heart condition
-Allergies to salts, bromine, magnesium
-Severe skin conditions (psoriasis, eczema)
For hygiene reasons anyone who is menstruating must take additional precautions when floating & ensure they use appropriate sanitary products (tampons) to ensure no leakage during their float session as you would do in pool or spa. However, if you generally experience raised body temperature or stomach cramps then you may wish to reschedule your appointment as you may find it difficult to get comfortable.
It is physically possible for two people to float together, but we do not permit more than one person in the tank at a time. Once you have floated you will realise that the experience is quite personal and worrying about disturbing someone else lying next to you really defeats the purpose of the experience.
There are no hard and fast rules as to how often you should float, the more regular you float the more you will benefit from floating as the effects of floating are accumulative.
